National Sports Center

USA CUP Activities Intern

May - August 2017 • Blaine, MN

What I liked

This was a great first experience in the sports industry. I was able to work closely with the entire staff and learn valuable skills for the industry. Not only do you get to work with the staff, you are also working with around 10-12 other interns. The connections I made are great for future career references, but also life-long friendships. Since the event hosts international teams, you will also meet many people from around the world!! The facility is amazing, growing day by day and it is the largest amateur sports facility in North America.

What I wish was different

In the beginning of the internship, there was not much going on because we were so far out from our event. Adding another work component would be able to bulk up the schedule in the beginning.

I would advise them to stay organized and take notes every day. This is important in order to have great customer service and be able to put on a successful event. With the size and length of the event you will also be putting in many hours, so be ready.
