The environment and the people I worked with. It was very laid back and everyone was helpful. The work was challenging and interesting. I really felt that I was able to contribute to the success of the company.

Brand Management and Sponsorship

June - August 2019 • New York City, NY

What I liked

I loved the department I was a part of being the group that handles all of the major Fortune 500 companies that you see associated with the NFL and how they want their audience to be influenced by the power and popularity the NFL shield brings to a consumers buying preferences. The great thing about the NFL is the standard they place on who they are going to be sponsors with. For example, they are looking for brands who are not just going to pay a premium dollar to enhance their own business, but rather brands who are going to also enhance the betterment of the sport, the players, and fans.

What I wish was different

I think a little more exposure during the process of a new Sponsor being evaluated by our team, or the process for an upcoming NFL event that our partner would like to activate their brand and ideas at would have helped fully understand the ins and outs of how the business conducted.

Advice

Make sure you leave a lasting impression on people. It is not the employees job to come and get to know you, nor should you expect them to always have something for you to be doing. A respected intern will find ways to create their own work and build a sense of trust with people who can rely on you to perform a task. Make use of your time being inside the doors of your office. You are an employee of that company. Take that opportunity to meet people around the building and get others to see your face and passion you share for the role you are in.

Fan Development Intern

June - August 2018 • New York City, NY

What I liked

This experience was amazing. I felt like I was able to make a significant contribution to the marketing department. I worked on projects that are being kicked off this season and it’s crazy to see ads on instagram, tv, etc. that I had a hand in developing! My favorite aspect of the experience was learning the ins and outs of every part of the League. There were presentations from multiple departments some including; player health and safety, event strategy, and even the commissioner himself.

Advice

Expand your network as far as it will go! During my time here I was able to meet individuals in different departments and explore all of my interests. You want to make sure that you are remembered after the internship is over, so make strong lasting relationships!
