Muskegon County Prosecutor's Office

Victim Advocate Assistant

May - August 2019 • Muskegon, MI

What I liked

The internship allowed for a wide range of experiences. This included watching sentencing's, jury trials, jury selections and meetings between prosecutors and victims. It allowed for conversations with a wide range of people in different job positions. This internship really points you in the direction you want to go after graduation. Whether that be probation, parole work, victim advocacy or continuing ed into law school.

What I wish was different

The more interns there are in the position the more competitive it is for work. There are not an abundance of tasks to complete so if there are two or more interns your experience will be dampened. I do think this is an internship for two people or less.

Advice

In this internship make sure that you are consistently willing to do any work and maintain a professional demeanor. Sometimes doing the simple and monotonous work means the most in the long run. This shows your willingness.
