My experience working under Dr. Johnson as a DEI Assistant ended with a hostile working environment, disrespect, and a lack of accountability for his unprofessional actions. Multiple other students have addressed and reported concerns in relation to his actions as well.
I've had various other administrative and advocacy roles with the college and would recommend any role in the college other than one under Dr. Johnson in DEI Office.
Advice
I would not recommend a role under Dr. Johnson at all. Although a role under DEI Specialist, Jahshua Smith would offer a supportive atmosphere and I would recommend that if you truly desire to engage in DEI efforts in the college.

What I liked
I like getting to be in an environment where I get to know the James Madison staff and faculty on a more personal basis! It has really helped me develop my office and professional skills.
