Research Intern
May - July 2019 • East Lansing, MI
What I liked
Awesome REU experience learning how PHD life is like and learning about different programs MSU has for research and graduate programs.
What I wish was different
Wasn't prepared for the 40+ hours working a week in the lab but it was still an awesome experience.
Advice
There are a ton of opportunities like the REU I did to get experience in the field you desire and you can honestly go across the country or even to other countries. Some don't require any previous experience either and afterwards all you've learned during the summer is a huge resume booster.

What I wish was different

Researcher
May - July 2018 • East Lansing, MI
What I liked
It was at times difficult but solving the problems that came up but also very fulfilling, like solving puzzles that no one had even looked at before. In addition, our findings seem to have a lot of surprising potential applications that we realized later on in the process! Also, there are a lot more avenues to explore and working on our problem has inspired more interesting questions than I have time to pursue answers to.
