Working on the lake front during the summer is really nice. It's also nice meeting all the different boaters and people that come to the marina.
What I wish was different
One thing that I wish was different was that as marina employees we had very little power to enforce any rules and because of that the public and tenants would take advantage of that.
Advice
One of the main things you learn how to do here is how to deal with the public.

You have only a small chance of getting the pool you are assigned to if it's a small pool.
Advice
Be prepared for lots of training and testing before getting this position. It's not as simple to get in as most people think.

What I liked
I loved the people!!! My supervisors were so knowledgeable and supportive and i learned so much from everybody. My work with Milwaukee county parks tied in really well with my undergraduate course work in conservation. I gained valuable experience in land management and it served as a great launching point into a career in my field of study.
What I wish was different
I would have liked to learn to navigate GIS software better. Other than that, no complaints!
Advice
Try to get work experience in your field of study as soon as you can! It helps you focus on school work and is super motivating!
