While working with mentors like Mitch and other accountants, I liked that they took the time to expose me to new concepts and projects. They allowed me to ask questions and practice specific tasks under their supervision. I benefited greatly from actively participating in many of the jobs they completed.
What I wish was different
I would have liked to have more exposure to corporate-style tax returns.
Advice
A piece of advice I would give with working in public accounting is to pace yourself with your tasks and not to be afraid to ask questions. I would also suggest developing well-rounded relationships with the clients.
