Founded in 1859 by Henry Shaw, Missouri Botanical Garden is the oldest botanical garden in the nation and a National Historic Landmark. Mr. Shaw intended his garden to be a center for horticultural display, education, and scientific research.
The mission of the Garden is "to discover and share knowledge about plants and their environments, in order to preserve and enrich life."
Missouri Botanical Garden received the Horticulture Magazine Award for Garden Excellence in 2004.
