Milwaukee Tool

Mechanical Engineering Intern

May - August 2021 • Brookfield, WI

What I liked

Great culture and interesting but challenging work! I worked in the accessory concept department and had numerous projects that required rapid concept prototype development and testing. Not only did I learn a ton on the technical side, my communication and presentation skills grew substantially.

What I wish was different

Out of their control, but the pandemic resurgence towards the end definitely made my final presentation and other events feel less impactful/valuable. Other than that I would say the onboarding process was a little daunting for the first couple weeks since I felt like everything (projects, tasks, etc.) was thrown at me at once but that's where I also experienced the most growth.

Advice

Don't feel like you have to sit and struggle by yourself to find a solution. Network with people inside and outside of your team to gather more knowledge on how to tackle a particular roadblock you are faced with. Take initiative even if you don't exactly know how things will turn out.

Procurement

January 2021 • Brookfield, WI

What I liked

I loved how I was treated like a full time employee. From the start, everyone was so kind and welcoming. Everyone introduced themselves and offered to help in anyway possible. I was also able to jump into some projects that made a real impact in our business.

What I wish was different

I really don't wish anything was different. I had a lot of different projects or assignments that I was able to do which kept me busy and interested, and it also made me feel like I was making a impact to our department, even as an intern.

Advice

The one thing I would say it reach out and introduce yourself to people you work with. Don't be afraid to meet people because it will pay off big time. Everyone here is incredibly caring and kind, and they will do whatever they can to help you succeed in your role. Even if it is a quick question, everyone would go out of their way and pause what they are doing to help you.
