Mechanical Engineering Intern

May - August 2018 • Brookfield, WI

What I liked

It was a very hands-on internship with the opportunity to take initiative with personal responsibilities. I learned how to use NX, TeamCenter, VBA, and enhanced my knowledge of Ansys and gear design. Overall this internship was an amazing experience with a well-rounded set of responsibilities and benefits. The employee discount was nice too!

What I wish was different

I would have liked a little more direction from my manager at the beginning of the summer; however, after a little bit I was able to gauge what my role was in the engineering team.

Advice

Technical skills are not everything. It was much more important to have interpersonal skills than to have solely technical knowledge.

What I liked

The company was very fast passed and self motivated. Everybody seemed to be friends with everybody else.

What I wish was different

I wish that they would have pushed us to do more in the community.

Advice

The best internship I've had thus far. I learned a ton and hope to go back when I'm ready for a full-time position.

Electrical Engineering Intern

June - August 2018 • Brookfield, WI

What I liked

The company provided me with a lot of resources to succeed. I was able to attend training meetings for full-time new hires to learn important skills and information. All of the full-time employees were always willing to take the time to answer questions. I had access to the EE Lab. I was given my own independent project to work, so I could work at my own pace and was not just given busy work. I really enjoyed this independence. The company was also very welcoming with fun events and coworkers.

What I wish was different

I honestly struggle to think of something I did not like about the working there. There were a few days where I wish I had more to do towards the end of the summer once my project was finished.

Advice

Don't be afraid to ask questions, and do not worry if you don't know something they at first expect you to know.
