I wish there was more hands on work that I could have done.

That if you have a chance to be an intern, do it. It was an amazing experience and was 100% worth doing.

What I liked
It was an amazing experience to learn exactly what these departments do and how to get the experience to one day get to work there. I met many amazing people that do a fantastic job in this industry

I highly recommend taking an internship class, its the only way you can truly learn about the positions you are interested in for your future career. You will also get help on how to accomplish these goals, along with reference letters to help you.
