Milwaukee Brewers Baseball Club

Business Operations Intern

May - October 2016 • Milwaukee, WI

What I liked

Great culture and high speed workplace.

What I wish was different

I wish the pay had been higher and while the team aspect of working in sports is a wonderful thing that everybody I met consistently exhibited, I didn't like that it felt like you had to sacrifice compensation to be a part of that.

Advice

Overall a good experience but compensation pushed me away from working in sports.

New Media Intern

April - September 2019 • Milwaukee, WI

What I liked

From the enticing atmosphere to the team culture and the behind the scenes look, I loved everything I did here. My bosses never made me do anything they had never done before, nor made me do useless work. My opinions and work were valued and I loved coming to work here every day.

What I wish was different

I honestly wish I could have worked more hours. I was limited to 30 hours a week and wished I could have had at least 40 hours to better assist my team. There were times I often felt restraint with my hour limit.

Advice

If you get the chance to work for a professional league team or in the industry of your dreams, take the opportunity, even if means sacrificing things like pay and "normal" hours. You will not regret it.

Strategy & Analytics Intern

June - October 2019 • Milwaukee, WI

What I liked

Working at Miller Park for the team I grew up rooting for was amazing. I got to be a part in projects that made a difference for real problems the Brewers were facing.

What I wish was different

I wish I had the opportunity to work with a few different departments that I didn’t do much with, mostly the Marketing department.

Advice

Network with as many people as possible when in an internship.

Suite Services Intern

February - October 2019 • Milwaukee, WI

What I liked

Everything, you are given a lot of responsibility during this internship and they really have a lot of trust in you to be the face of the Milwaukee Brewers Suites Department. You will be exposed to a lot of different facets of Major League Baseball.

What I wish was different

Nothing, I really enjoyed my time during this internship.

Advice

Enjoy your time here! Everyday will bring a different challenge and you will learn the ins and outs of a professional baseball organization.

Community Relations Intern

February 2019 • Milwaukee, WI

What I liked

I have gotten incredible experience and networking opportunities from this internship. I have gotten to run my own community program and attend such fun community events. I have met and gotten to work with the entire team, coaches, and higher-ups of the company. Not to mention it's just such a fun place to work.

What I wish was different

My duties outside of the field and community, can be a little tedious. I have to do a lot of donations and phone calling/emailing and it's a lot for one person. Maybe if they hired two interns for this position to split the work load, it might be better.

Advice

You have to be good a communicating with others or you won't succeed. If you are shy, this internship isn't for you. I have to talk with people, whether it be players, our publics, or coworkers, every single day. It's so much fun but it's a LOT of social activity. I was nervous at first but it becomes quite easy to talk to people (especially the famous ones) once you get the hang of it.

Group Sales Intern

December 2017 • Milwaukee, WI

What I liked

Solid work environment where everyone was willing to help each other out, regardless of which department they were in.

What I wish was different

More of an emphasis on sales and sales strategy.

Advice

Don't be afraid to put yourself out there. With the Milwaukee Brewers being such a popular destination for young adults to work, it may seem that the odds are stacked against you when applying. Just give it a shot, you never know what could happen!
