In addition to tutoring, I helped make resources for the Writing Center on campus. I liked using my skills for something other than simply receiving a grade. Seeing how students learn about writing was an interesting experience.
What I wish was different
When I was tutoring, there were many days where I would be at the Center from 1pm-5pm and there would be no appointments. This caused my training to go on for an extended period of time. I wish that the training had modules or something rather than have a tutor go over everything at once.
Advice
The student managers receive many emails on a daily basis, so don't feel bad if they don't respond right away! If something is important, either keep emailing them or try to find them at the Center and discuss it in person.
