The Middlesex County Office of Planning serves as the staff of the County Planning Board. Its primary responsibility is to prepare a comprehensive master plan for the County and to monitor its implementation. This includes preparing reports of findings and fact for presentation and action by the Planning Board and the Board of Chosen Freeholders. The Planning Board also supports a wide array of advisory committees to assist in the decision making process. These committees relate to various functions of the Board.
Within the Office of Planning there are five areas of specialization: Comprehensive Planning, Environmental Sustainability, Land Development Review, Transportation Planning and Geographic Information Systems.
