I liked the energy of the people I worked with. The managers, supervisors, and my coworkers were all very kind, understanding, and patient. Whenever it got busy, our team always worked hard and effectively with the guests to ensure proper customer service.
What I wish was different
I wish the schedule would have been a little bit different. During the summer, I was hoping for at least 30-40 hours a week but I was only getting scheduled once, twice, or sometimes even zero days a week since I was toward the bottom of the seniority list. The inconsistency of my schedule (such as varying hours or not knowing what days I was going to be scheduled until a few days before) made it very hard to work around my personal life (including school, doctor's appointments, etc).
Advice
Always be open to learning new things and don't be too hard on yourself when something goes wrong. Guests on the Las Vegas Strip can be harsh sometimes and it can be overwhelming at times. The best thing to do when encountering an unpleasant guest or when making a personal mistake is to take a deep breath and stay calm, or take a while to compose yourself with your manager/supervisor's permission.

National Marketing Intern
May - August 2019 • Las Vegas, NV
What I liked
My advisor was one of the best mentors I have ever had. She truly cared about my personal advancement and did her best as often as she could. The company let me shadow other departments in order to grow personally and follow the company on a new level. I was also in a group with 36 other people my age spread throughout the company so it was an extremely welcoming environment.
What I wish was different
MGM Resorts International went through a very large restructuring before my program began. The program itself was rough around the edges and things were moved along pretty slowly. It was a little unorganized but that was completely understandable, all things considered.
Advice
The 10 weeks fly by. Do your best at your role and make sure to network as early on as possible. You don't realize how short this summer will be, soak in every bit of it while you can. It was the most amazing internship I could imagine. You want to leave feeling like you've made the most of it.

What I liked
I love the interaction with guests and working for a company that values their employees as much as the Beau Rivage does.
What I wish was different
I wish I were able to continue working there whilst in school.
Advice
I would advise people to take the opportunity to work in the hospitality industry as it has taught me how to interact with various types of people.
