I liked learning about the production line. It was awesome being able to see a process from beginning to end.
Working with people from upper management, to engineers, to operators
Learning about applications of products made
Seeing theory from school in action
What I wish was different
I had fixed hours.
The safety regulations had actually been followed.
Appropriate PPE always given
Advice
Be prepared to get dirty
Small companies have a familial culture. Don't let that make you think there is less stress
There are lots of obvious inefficiencies that the small company could fix, but their management is most focused on "putting out fires".
If you work here, try to improve obvious inefficiencies rather than letting management make you be supplemental in increasing production.
