What I liked

Last summer I had the incredible opportunity to work on the beautiful coastline of Mendocino, CA. This was a glamping organization that hosted travelers across the western United States. I was able to work in three branches of hospitality: front office, food & beverages, and housekeeping. The other interns and the full time staff were absolutely amazing people to work with. I loved the atmosphere of coming to work every day.

What I wish was different

I wish we had a few more hands on deck. Sometimes the days were very stressful because we were a little understaffed.

Advice

This experience taught me that there is nothing better than pleasing a customer and making their experience very memorable. As a staff member, there were times you have to sacrifice personal time to make the extra effort to help campers have a good time.

What I liked

I loved the location and the people who work at Mendocino Grove. Everyone who works is very invested in what they do and really care about making guest experiences the best that they can. It was also very helpful to get experience with front desk/reservations, food and beverage and housekeeping as well. This made the experience so fun and I truly looked forward to going to work everyday because I knew I would learn a lot and have fun at the same time.

What I wish was different

I wish that we had gotten more opportunities to learn more about the tasks and responsibilities of the managers and higher level workers/department heads. It definitely was hard work sometimes and at times we were very short staffed for the number of guests that we had staying with us.

Advice

I think that the best advice that I have for Mendocino Grove, is to really get to know the people that you work with because you can learn so much from their experiences and past which is invaluable and will leave you with connections for the rest of your life.
