What I liked

The internship gave me a really good sense of what it would be like to work at an ad agency, and I got really good exposure to different types of clients and the different department in an ad agency. It was a very startup-y environment and there were a lot of opportunities to try out new roles and sit in on a lot of meetings.

What I wish was different

All the work that I did was internal facing, and I wish that I had been given more client-facing work. Additionally, much of the work was based on one-off work that a specific account or client needed, and it felt like there wasn't an end goal or project that I was working towards. As a result, I was waiting around for work to do a good portion of the time.

Advice

Be proactive and communicate openly with your superiors about the work you're doing and how you feel. Always be searching for opportunities to help out others in your workplace - it's your job as an intern!
