What I liked
First and foremost, I felt extremely supported during my entire summer with Medium. Everyone I interacted with went out of their way to offer themselves as resources for anything I might need. In spite of the remote environment, I still felt very connected to everyone. My team welcomed me and made me feel like a valued member. My manager especially took extra time and effort to get to know me and my interests, and to ensure that I was assigned a project that not only aligned with my goals, but contributed real value to my team and Medium as a whole. I also appreciate that Medium organized a series of Meet and Greet sessions, in which all of the interns had the opportunity to informally interact with individuals from across the organization: from those in Data Science and Marketing, to the CEO himself. This experience added so much value; being able to freely interact with so many talented individuals maximized my learning opportunities. Lastly, I truly admired and appreciated the transparency of the company. The open and honest conversations initiated by leadership surrounding DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion), though difficult, were extremely refreshing to witness.
