I really liked their willingness to teach me and expose me to as much as they could. I am an environmental engineer, so I really didn't know anything going into a job as a civil. The company was small, so I really got to know them and I was comfortable asking questions about my work. They had me working through many different site plans and were very patient and helpful as I learned the software from scratch.
What I wish was different
I wish there had been more environmental opportunities for me to work on, but I realize that this company did not have them. Towards the end they were showing me software relating to water management, so as I got more experience I would've been able to work on more.
Advice
Have an open mind while applying to internships. I was not sure what to expect working in a strictly civil engineering office, but I ended up really liking the projects I worked on.
