I enjoyed learning new skills and meeting a new world of people. Learning how a laser cutter works and how to do maintenance when it goes down was a great skill to acquire. I also practiced other fabrication techniques & learned a lot more about safety in the factory and how quickly accidents can happen.
What I wish was different
The location. It’s was extremely rural and going to that from city life was pretty difficult to adjust to. It was a hour drive to the closest Walmart one way, so imagine. Other than that it was a great experience.
Advice
Explore. Search for jobs outside of your comfort area location. I’ve met some great and interesting people. There are well paying jobs out there that people are overlooking because of the area they’re in.

Electrical Engineering Intern
May - August 2018 • Dodge Center, MN
What I liked
I really liked that the company was friendly and very welcoming to the summer interns. The team I worked with was committed to making sure that I had a good experience and that I learned so many new things.
What I wish was different
I wish we would have had more exposure to the rest of the business and that the engineering team would be a little larger. I feel I would have learned even more having a larger team to have different experiences with.
Advice
I would recommend having an internship during your college career and to take every opportunity that is given to you. You learn many things in the classroom, but getting to put these into practice is a priceless experience.
