McGill University

Remote Researcher

June - July 2020 • Montreal, Quebec

What I liked

The professor I was working with was very accommodating considering the circumstances of remote research. Despite the fact that it was not the same project I was intending to work on before the pandemic, I was lucky to amend my research in light of being remote.

What I wish was different

Obviously I would have loved to live and work in Montreal while doing the research, because doing research remotely was definitely much harder than I expected. But considering the circumstances it went well.

Advice

I found this position simply by reaching out to researching professors at other universitys by email. My advice is to not be afraid of starting your own networking process by simply reaching out to people you want to work for.
