I like the fact that it is working on tools like BIM 360 Field and Procore, along with BlueBeam. What I do not like is the Company's behavior towards international students. The expectation is very high and very hard than compensation. Moreover, along with me they did not let two more internationals like me to continue for co-op rotation after a summer internship. As a result, our life becomes stressful and miserable and other companies are doubting on us. They don't appreciate the technical and mathematical skills of an international, instead, they want international employees like us to feel uncomfortable because we were getting paid.
What I wish was different
Being a Big Company with many replacement options sometimes makes it worse for new hires and interns. The thing which must had been different is appreciation and motivation. An international employee like me at McCarthy is not motivated and feels work like an ordeal every time because our Project Managers do not appreciate talent rather give tons of work and pin pricking for small silly issues and body language and makes a life of an international employee miserable. We don't want to get paid but we want respect for our math our calculations and technical skills.
Advice
They should guide and help if a person is lacking something, at least at an intern level. We internationals do not want any company's like McCarthy to pay us rather appreciate our work which, this company is lacking severely and that is the reason behind my disappointing internship experience. Even I got poor grades just because I am an international student

What I liked
I really liked the team of people I worked with. My super, project manager, and project engineer were awesome! I also enjoyed the location.
What I wish was different
There were 2 interns on the project and it was quite small so there wasn’t that much work given to us as they had to cut our work in half so the other intern could learn as well.
Advice
The construction industry is an amazing industry to be in. It is constantly growing and every company is hiring.

Do it! McCarthy is a vastly diverse company that has room for so many people. Not just construction.

What I liked
I love being able to work in an environment that is challenging and where I’m doing something different every day. Watching a building being constructed is a really impressive process.
What I wish was different
I wouldn’t have changed anything, because McCarthy was fine with me leaving for 6 weeks to go to Turkey for an amazing research experience through school.
Advice
Any experience is good experience. Even if your major is engineering, a job in construction is very valuable to get an understanding of how what you design will be inplemented and the level of detail needed in construction documents.
