Maxar Technologies

Geospatial Analytical Intern

May - August 2022 • St. Louis, MO

What I liked

I was assigned to the development team and the work was interesting.

What I wish was different

I wish I had more collaboration with team members throughout the internship. Due to remote work, I was working alone and had little interaction with other interns over zoom.

Advice

Try to be proactive about your assignments and have a conversation with the coleagues. It helped with learning the company culture and work flow.

Mechanical Engineering Intern

June - September 2021 • San Jose, CA

What I liked

Maxar is very welcoming to their interns and encourages them to be curious and use the summer to grow and network.

What I wish was different

Given the current state of the world and the changes its brought with it, there's nothing I can think of that could be changed that wasn't a result of COVID.

Advice

Do not be afraid to ask questions. Being exposed to industry level engineering brings a lot of new concepts and foreign topics, so use that opportunity to learn as much as you can.

Geospatial Analytical Intern

June - August 2021 • Ypsilanti, MI

What I liked

I really enjoyed working with everyone in my team and how the internship program had weekly "Lunch and learns" where you would learn about other teams and projects that were happening in the company.

What I wish was different

It would have been nice to be in person to see some of Maxar's facilities (the internship was remote last summer).

Advice

Reach out to other interns/employees if there is another team/project within the company that you might be interested in exploring further!

Technical Intern

May - August 2017 • Dulles, VA

What I liked

Fully integrated me with a software development team. Included me on everyday standup meetings and biweekly sprint planning. Gave me a project to work on that I could complete in the span of a summer.

What I wish was different

I wish I would have more interaction with other interns, and that we had been in more of a development phase with our product than a deployment phase.

Advice

Don't be afraid to ask questions or reach out when you want to switch projects.
