As an intern, I was basically a regular employee. I was doing the same things that everyone else was doing, not getting coffee or taking notes!
What I wish was different
I had to come up with my own schedule and content ideas and while the freedom was really nice, in the beginning it was difficult to decide what I'd be doing.
Advice
They will let you make this experience what you want. If you want to write breaking news, write breaking news. If you want to write features, write features. Seek out story ideas that appeal to your interests.
