Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center

Biology Laboratory Assistant

September 2017 - July 2019 • Boston, MA

What I liked

My job helped me get experience in a field that I had interest in.

What I wish was different

The wet-lab work I was doing was quite broad and I wish it could have been more focused on Bioinformatics.

Advice

If you are interested in any type of research, definitely attempt to be in labs that you are not sure if you want to be in or not so that you can be certain on what type of research you want to do. This is very important and can be helpful in talking to other people and PhD's who can give advice and help you decide what courses or other experience you will need to get where you want to be.

Medical Assistant

May - October 2019 • Boston, MA

What I liked

A fast-paced working environment with the opportunity to interact with some very complex patients and incredibly accomplished physicians and nurses.

What I wish was different

I felt that the medical assistants were understaffed. I also wish that I had more time training and getting to know the clinic.

Advice

Be proactive about learning about the clinic--the better you understand how things run and who is responsible for what, the better you will be able to serve patients.
