Our history started when Alexander E. Frontera, a man who truly cared about his community, decided to open a bank. He believed that the community needed a safe and sound place to do their banking and borrow money to achieve their dreams of homeownership, after the war. He also believed that the bank would be more than just a bank; it would be a mainstay in the community- a place where people could feel at home. I am proud to say his vision has been our standard and has lived on through like-minded leaders, including my father Ken, who recently stepped down as CEO, after 60 years of service.
Looking back, it is hard to believe that when Maspeth Federal first opened in 1947, there were only two teller stations and an aisle barely wide enough for two people to pass at the same time. Fast forward to today, the bank has grown to employ over 200 people, and has six full-service branches, a loan center and a full array of digital and online services. This year, we launched new services such as digital payments and online mortgage applications, built a program for 1st time homebuyers, expanded our event calendar to include educational workshops and worked to enhance our customer experience. We also launched a customer newsletter to keep you better connected to the bank and the exciting things we have planned for the future.
