I liked having the opportunity to learn a lot about cardiovascular health and the recent advancements in that field. I also appreciated my boss's effort to help me apply for various poster presentations at major conferences.
What I wish was different
I wish that it had been in a larger city or closer to my home in Pittsburgh.
Advice
I would start looking for and applying for research opportunities as soon as possible. Also, I would take advantage of the valuable relationships that you develop along the way for future opportunities in research and the medical field.

What I liked
I really enjoyed being able to do hands on research within the first week. The PI I worked under and the other research staff was great and it was all around an amazing work environment.
What I wish was different
Unfortunately, the research institute was under construction this summer and it was hard to fully conduct experiments because we were moving or disrupted by the construction.
Advice
Be excited and open to learning new things. I never knew I could learn so much about my research and myself in just 10 weeks.
