What I liked

I enjoyed working with multiple departments. I felt like I saw the company from a different perspective each day. I also brought unique experience to the corporate office as I interned at one of their quarries two summers before.

What I wish was different

I wish that it had not been remote, because I would have met many more employees and perhaps felt more involved.

Advice

I am generally a quiet person, so when I was completing a project that required me to keep reaching out to people when they would not send me what I needed, I felt like I was bothering them. However, I learned that it was not that, but rather their days were very busy. If I didn't keep asking every other day or so, then it would be forgotten.

What I liked

Everyone that works at Martin Marietta is so friendly. Everyone was so patient in answering all my questions, and seemed genuinely interested in getting to know me. It is such a supportive place to work and learn.

What I wish was different

I can say there are not many things I wish had been different. Martin Marietta was very accommodating to all the different parts of their company I wanted to see and experience. They worked with me more than I worked for them. I had a really fantastic summer.

Advice

Do not be afraid to ask questions and say what you want to see and learn. No one will know you are confused or want to learn more about something if you do not speak up.

I got to become familiar with many different processes in the mining process. I was able to gain experience with many different parts of the overall process.
