Marshall Wace is a global alternatives investment manager founded in 1997, specializing predominantly in long/short equity. We manage quantitative, systematic, and fundamental strategies, implemented globally and leveraging proprietary systems and processes. Managing in excess of $85 billion, we employ over 750 people across 7 international locations including New York.
Technology and data have been at the core of our business for more than two decades. In 2002, we launched MW TOPS, the world's first Alpha Capture application — an exceptional example of how innovation at Marshall Wace has created a unique investment solution for clients and driven improvements in efficiency, processes, and controls. Today, we build our own systems in-house, from high-performance data pipelines and distributed trading infrastructure to generative AI tools that are transforming how we research and invest.
Our culture is fast-moving, collaborative, and flat, focused on innovation and the pursuit of excellence. Ideas come from every part of the firm and get executed quickly, whether you've been here ten years or ten weeks. We bring together people from diverse backgrounds and provide them with the systems, data, technology, and work environment they need to succeed. We are dedicated to creating long-term relationships with our clients built on trust and integrity.
In September 2015, KKR and Marshall Wace announced a long-term strategic partnership, with KKR initially acquiring 25% in Marshall Wace. KKR's market leadership in Private Equity and Credit complements Marshall Wace's position in Equity Long/Short and liquid alternatives. The partnership is based on a shared vision of how financial markets are changing, bringing together strong traditions of investment expertise, entrepreneurship, and cultural alignment. Over time, it will enable joint development of new products, an expanded global client base, and incentive plans for the next generation of Marshall Wace partners and staff.
