I enjoyed that my job was on-campus and offered flexible hours for my busy schedule! My favorite part about being a desk receptionist is interacting with the residents and helping build a community to be safer, connected, and helping students feel more at home when they walk into the building. I love to solve problems and undergo tasks which I know will do good for those in need. No task is too big or too small- there is always somebody to ask when I may not know the answer, too.
What I wish was different
I do not have many complaints about working here. The only thing I can imagine being nicer would be having the ability to leave the desk for bathroom/food breaks. If the desk receptionist could leave and put a sign up it would be nice- however, you cannot always trust residents to obey and not go behind the desk. So it is understandable.
Advice
I definitely recommend this job to any student looking for a full-time or part-time job on campus. You learn a lot about residence life and what goes into creating a safe, comforting environment for the residence of Marquette University. I also enjoyed personally working at an on-campus apartment building, because I got to meet lots of people and meet incoming upperclassmen, transfers, grad students, and more!

Advice
Be as organized as possible before the academic year starts because after that, attempting to catch up becomes harder with each week that passes.
