I learned a lot about working on a campaign for local office and saw a side to local politics that I hadn't seen before. I loved being able to interact with voters directly as friends and neighbors, rather than just constituents, and I was able to wear many hats and try new things because it was a smaller campaign.
What I wish was different
I wish I had more information about the job beforehand, and I wish that volunteers had been more responsive to the need to do boring, but necessary tasks such as door-knocking and driving to the polls.
Advice
Don't be afraid to be annoying! Ask lots of questions, send lots of emails, and be as present as possible.
