What I liked
This was a great opportunity to use some of the concepts from my education courses at Meredith, as well as gaining experiential on-the-job learning. Not only was I able to build connections with my colleagues, I was able to build on my strengths and will be able to implement several tools in future employment opportunities.
What I wish was different
I wish I had started my job search earlier and had taken steps to start the background check process sooner. Working within MCCS, and children additionally, it was a very extensive background check process that prevented me from beginning employment right after the school year ended.
Advice
I would encourage students to start the summer job search early on. That way you can explore a wider range of options to find the right fit for you.
