Marco Learning

Graider

June 2019 • Chicago, IL

What I liked

I like that I can make my schedule. I also like that I can pick the grade level that works best for me.

What I wish was different

I wished the time that we receive the assignments were different.

Advice

Do not overwork yourself by picking too many assignments. They are not hard, but they are time-consuming.

Graider

September 2017 • Chicago, IL

What I liked

The staff was incredibly responsive and helpful. If I had questions about an assignment, they were answered quickly. There is an emphasis on a growth and learning mindset and many opportunities to receive feedback on my work. The position is highly flexible, so I can take on more work when it's convenient for me, but slow down when I'm busy with classes.

Operations Intern

June - August 2017 • Chicago, IL

What I liked

There was a large amount of flexibility, meaningful work, and a supportive and professional team. I learned so much from the work I was doing, as well as from watching the other people around me. I felt that I was a valued member of the team. Additionally, they work out of the Chicago Literacy Alliance, so you share a building with 20+ fantastic Chicago education nonprofits and ventures, so has awesome opportunities to broaden your knowledge on literacy programs and rub elbows with lots of fantastic people beyond The Graide Network

What I wish was different

More clarity and focus would have been nice sometimes - there were lots of different projects flying around and I was concerned that I couldn't always focus on one item. That being said, I learned how to work in that environment, which is a quintessential startup/nonprofit experience!

Advice

Ask questions, and ask for feedback. The whole company is structured around feedback, and the more you ask, the more you can learn. The team is SO experienced and professional, its a waste to sit across from an experienced web developer, a seasoned operations manager, a killer CFO/sales-ninja and a masterful CEO and not ask questions. They're always happy to answer.
