I liked the schedule. 6am to 4pm each day with Friday’s off. Opportunity for overtime was awesome. I was able to experience many aspects of highway engineering and the county highway system. I was able to experience paving jobs, culvert inspection and installations, road construction, and other jobs within the county highway department.
What I wish was different
There’s nothing that I can think of that would be different. I enjoyed everything that I did at this job.
Advice
As a civil engineer, look for an internship opportunity at a highway department or state DOT. The variety of different jobs I was able to experience was awesome for my career goals.
