Manifesto Growth Architects

Strategy Intern

June - August 2019 • New York City, NY

What I liked

It's a small team still in the early stages of getting set up in the U.S., so pretty much from the start I was expected to be fully-contributing and take ownership of my own projects. I was expected to have opinions, have a say during meetings, and challenge things that didn't make sense to me. Everyone is very supportive and makes themselves accessible for project support or just general career-development guidance. I had an incredible point person that met with me weekly (or more) to make sure I was growing and being challenged.

What I wish was different

I came in during the NY office's second year, and client work was pretty slow in the summer. Because of that, all my projects were internal & centered on business development, and I didn't get to take on any client work. I'm positive this will change as Manifesto's U.S. presence gets more established, though.

Advice

Learn to take ownership of the role! The environment is very much like a startup, which means that most things will be in the works & open to changing and iterating—this means things might feel unstructured at times, but it also means you'll have a lot of room to make significant contributions if you're proactive about it.
