I enjoyed the amount of flexibility in my role. I was given a lot of ownership of my work which was nice to be able to kinda of do whatever I wanted, whenever. It allowed me to test a lot of different ideas in the business development area and allowed me to use a lot of creativity which I enjoyed.
What I wish was different
I wish there would have been a little more support for my role. There was no formal internship program with Makeway so everything was kind of on me. It would have been nice to have some more touch points with the managers to make sure I was working in the right direction.
Advice
While I do appreciate the lack of restrictions I had during my time at Makeway, I think I missed out on a lot of the benefits of interning at a larger firm. Some of my peers have more extensive professional networks than me from their internships this summer. I would suggest that interning at a larger firm before full time employment would lead to landing a more ideal job after college.
