I love this school. I have been here a few times before my student teaching and it really is just a wonderful experience. The teachers collaborate often and the principal takes the time to know each student. It’s just a great environment to be in.
What I wish was different
I wish I had more time in SPED. We only spent seven weeks there and it was the only practicum I’ve had in SPED but I absolutely loved my experience there.
Advice
Don’t be too hard on yourself. You’re probably doing better than you think. Also keep asking questions. Never stop asking because I learned so much by asking my mentors about the curriculum, how things work as a real teacher and their thoughts on being in the education department.

I loved working in the field and gaining experience for my post graduate career.

I wish I could have taken classes in the evening, or more courses online. It was hard to be in school and complete my full time work during the day.
Advice
There are a few key things that will set you apart as a candidate for high demand positions. Confidence, competence and a positive attitude will define your character as you prepare for interviews. Be confident and competent by knowing the job, the requirements and the company you are interviewing with. Once you get the job, continue to stay up to date on best practices and expectations. In addition, no matter the situation keep a positive attitude and show gratitude for the opportunity you have to learn.
