I really enjoyed the work environment and the work I was able to do. At the Mackinac Center I was treated like a regular employee (albeit part time) rather than an intern. My coworkers treated me with the same respect as they did everyone else and truly valued my work and contributions. My ideas were taken seriously and given just as much consideration as anyone else's.
What I wish was different
I wish I would have had more time to explore some of the other policy areas.
Advice
I would advise anyone interested in policy to apply to the Mackinac Center. It was a wonderful place to work and I can't believe how much I learned. Be sure to pick a policy area you are interested in because you get the chance to really become an expert in a field.
