Advice

The internship program at Lumen is hands down one of the most well-organized and planned programs I have seen. The onboarding was seamless, and the University Relations team with Lumen was fantastic at making sure all of the interns in the program had what they needed to start strong. It is a 10-week, PAID internship summer program where each intern is given experience working in their field. While it is a remote internship, there are daily check-ins with your manager and all computer equipment is provided by Lumen. One of the most exciting things about the internship is the career opportunities. All interns who are seniors (1 or 2 semesters away from graduation) can potentially be extended a job offer by the end of the summer. The offer will depend on individual performance and position availability. For example, the team I was with over the summer did not have a permanent position available for me, but they were able to find a position for me with one of their analytics teams. After I graduate, I will be working for Lumen as a Business Intelligence Analyst.

Project Management Intern

May - July 2018 • Monroe, LA

What I liked

I loved the culture of the company where everyone is very supportive and open to different opinions. I also enjoyed working at CenturyLink for providing opportunities to network with other interns and professionals.

What I wish was different

I wish I could've worked with other interns on collaborative projects that would showcase our skillsets. I only got to work with people on my business unit and I think it would amplify the internship experience by broadening the interactions between interns and different business units.

WHEN YOU ARE AN INTERN, YOU CAN DO ANYTHING WITH THAT TITLE. So take an advantage of it by reaching out to people in leadership, managers, and colleagues.
