What I wish was different
Although they promote from within, it is not based on your performance or seniority. Every eligible person must apply, be graded according to initial placement qualifications, and be interviewed by multiple panels. Even if selected, it takes months before you are promoted or hired. They also only offer education reimbursement options if you are in nursing or physician positions.
Advice
If looking for a position within Los Angeles County DHS, be sure to utilize key buzz words from the job description. Do not copy/paste, but do incorporate these words throughout your resume.
