LORD Corporation

Mechanical Engineering Intern

May 2018 • Williston, VT

What I liked

I loved all of the people working here! There were barbecues, games on lunch break, and everybody was very welcoming! I also like how there was a manufacturing facility on site, so I was able to interact with the sensors from start to finish.

What I wish was different

There were times when I didn't have enough to do. Also I was on the displacement / special projects team, and I think I would be more interested in the sensor work in the inertial team

Advice

Go get an internship before you graduate! This was very helpful in making sure that I wanted to be an engineer and work in a smaller engineering firm upon graduation.

Chemistry Research And Development Student Associate

May - August 2019 • Erie, PA

What I liked

LORD was a great work environment. The company is very driven for success and very professional. The environment is also quite friendly and welcoming, making it a great experience.

What I wish was different

I worked in an engineering department, while I had been expecting to work in a more strictly chemistry department. However, this new experience gave me the opportunity to learn new skills and information that I may have never learned otherwise.

Advice

Even when an internship does not go as planned, and you may think that you are getting nothing out of it, keep and a good attitude and work hard and it will definitely be well worth it.
