There was no shortage of interesting artifacts at the site. When the archaeology was complete we collaborated on a findings report.
What I wish was different
There was room for growth in professionalism on the team.
Advice
Be ready to do manual labor in the heat. To apply for this job, you must attend field school (ANTH 296) in the summer.

What I wish was different
I would have liked to be able to assist in a few areas student workers weren't allowed to help with such as malware calls, hardware issues, and larger network concerbs
Advice
I think the staff over at the IT / Hell Desk department invest heavily in their employees and it's a fantastic job to try and get while you're in college

Summer Conference Associate
May - August 2018 • Farmville, VA
What I liked
I thoroughly enjoyed helping guest be comfortable and have all they needed for their events or stay at Longwood University. I loved the four women in charge of the Conference's and Scheduling team, I think they have a lot on their plate and do their best with a small team.
What I wish was different
Student Supervisors had absolutely no leadership experience and work place bias was a major problem. Almost all other Conference Associate members where more concerned about doing the least amount of work possible. Other employees were not mature and complained constantly. Understandably you can't change this team halfway through planning phase, but work was either not done or done inefficiently. Also did not receive hours we had been told we would make, ended up losing money on the job due to bills.
Advice
I would not work with this team again because of other Student team members, however the full time staff members are wonderful.
