What I liked
I appreciated the way scheduling is set up and the assistance I received from the rest of the team during my training/first weeks. All of the SAs had the opportunity to work different shifts and hours, and we only stayed when the people closing needed the help, so tips could be shared fairly for the amount of work each of us was doing. Also, I appreciated that I was able to sort of "shadow" people before opening or working shifts on my own.
What I wish was different
I wish I'd been able to start earlier in the summer. After I applied, different schedules did not align, so I did not finish the interview/hiring process until a few weeks had passed (but this wasn't really anyone's fault).
Advice
My advice to anyone in this type of position is to accept that you are going to be doing all of the jobs they tell you about at some point (e.g. greeting, seating, bussing, and doing other side work throughout the shift), so make sure you try them while you are still training so you know you are doing everything right instead of having to backtrack later.
