I love working for the Logan City School District, and the summer school is such a fun place to work! The kids are awesome to work with and the program is so specific to their needs and helps them catch up/get a head start for the next school year.
What I wish was different
I loved just about everything. We were able to switch to different small groups during the day to teach and also have fun groups with the children, and also received training each Friday to discuss questions. Overall, it was an open and accepting learning/teaching environment and I loved it.
Advice
This summer school was specifically designed for English language learning students. It was humbling to see students come from different countries and family circumstances. In the end, they all just need someone to be invested in them and their education because they may not receive that push otherwise. It was incredible to see the staff work so hard to be that person who listens and cares and encourages each student to make a better life for themselves and their families by means of education.
