What I liked

Lodestar has a great team of employees that always made me feel welcome. There is no such thing as a silly question here. I learned so much during my volunteer experience that will prepare me for future schooling as well as hands-on learning in the workplace. I enjoyed Lodestar's environment so much that I applied for a full-time position here starting in the summer. The owner and executive director have voiced on multiple occasions that he is willing to work around my class schedule and other activities I am involved in during my busy senior year for my bachelor's degree here at Marshall University.

What I wish was different

The only difference I would make is the timing in which I found this great workplace. It is difficult to balance a day job with a college education, but I just couldn't pass up this amazing opptuinity!

Advice

I worked as a food server for the majority of my college career, and while the schedule was much easier to work with, I wasn't sure my major was for me based on just the classes. I am majoring in psychology at marshall and wanted to make sure I would enjoy this field of work. So, I would advise any students wanting to shadow or gain hands-on experience in the behavioral health fields to give Lodestar a try!
