The Live Like Blaine Foundation was established to honor the memory of Blaine Steinberg, a young athletic leader who passed away suddenly during her junior year at Dartmouth. Our mission is to empower and inspire young women to become leaders through fitness and athletics.
We want to make girls FIT TO LEAD. We have three main activities: 1) Host an annual leadership conference for female high school athletes on MLK Day during which the girls hear from prominent women in sports and business and participate in team building and leadership training activities, 2) we provide scholarships for girls to attend the Julie Foudy Sports Leadership Academy and, 3) we are partnering with Harlem Lacrosse to bring that program to girls in two Philadelphia underserved middle schools beginning in September 2017. Harlem Lacrosse is a school-based non-profit organization that changes the life trajectories of at-risk youth through daily wrap-around academic support, mentoring, leadership training, college readiness, career exploration, admissions counseling and lacrosse instruction. Ultimately, we would like there to be overlap with the participants in all three of these activities to enhance the leadership skills of the girls we serve.
