Global Product Support Engineer Intern

May - August 2022 • Omaha, NE

What I liked

The people and working environment was super helpful. All the people there like their jobs and will assist you with any questions you have. The job was also great in the sense that you got to communicate directly with customers and dealers via tech support phone calls and emails.

What I wish was different

I wished I would have been more directly involved in product development and early testing.

Advice

This job requires a lot of learning early on, so be ready and motivated to learn at a very fast pace. You have all the resources given to you to succeed.

Internal Audit Intern

May - August 2019 • Elkhorn, NE

What I liked

I enjoyed having the opportunity to do real audit test-work. If you are looking for a well-rounded experience and are unsure about whether auditing is the right career path for you, this is the place to do it. Even though I was an intern, I felt like an important member of the team. The audit manager does a great job of explaining how to do tasks and projects as well as why you are doing them. I always had an understanding of the value of the work I was doing. I also had the opportunity to work with people across different levels and departments. I worked with people in IT, Marketing, Legal and Finance and interacted with Controllers, the CFO, and the CEO. I worked on my communication skills and built my network. Overall, it was a wonderful internship experience.

What I wish was different

I wish I had taken my audit class before the internship. If you've taken any intermediate accounting courses, you'll be fine, but auditing is a different process of understanding financial information and drawing conclusions. I could see that there were gaps in my knowledge because I had not yet taken the class. On the plus side, while in the audit class, I was able to make sense of material better because of the experiences I had during the internship.

Advice

Always maintain a questioning mindset; asking questions is a good thing! The team knows that you are learning and will always be willing to help you out when you don't know something.
