Office Director
May - August 2021 • Nashville, TN
What I liked
I loved how every day looked different. Sure, there was a list of tasks that I needed to complete each day, but there was always an unexpected fire to put out to keep me busy.
What I wish was different
I would have liked to have seen more structure with the routine (it was a lot of moving which made juggling communication a bit tricky).
Advice
Start early! Get into the routine of making calls and sending emails "before they are expected" to ensure you give yourself time to do your job effectively.

Business Intelligence Developer
June - August 2019 • Nashville, TN
What I liked
The company was in the middle of many transitioning processes, and I enjoyed observing how the business dealt with change. I enjoyed working with big data by myself and with another intern. I learned a lot about the data that a company generates and how the company can use this information to propel their business forward. I enjoyed getting to know the other members of the Business Intelligence team and the other interns.
What I wish was different
Advice
Make sure you try to get to know the company's values and history. Don't eat lunch by yourself- use your lunch break to get to know the other interns and colleagues.

Program Director for FUGE Camps
May - July 2018 • Mobile, AL
What I liked
It was a leadership position in which I directed all programming for the camp location, so I got to learn a lot about how to communicate with other professionals and implement leadership skills. I also gained a lot of technical knowledge about the production side of events, as well as the background duties of ministry work. Fuge Camps is a summer camp experience for 6th-12th grade students, and so I also got to invest in youth for a whole summer which was incredible.
What I wish was different
I wish that I had more respect then what I got--whats funny is that 9 times out of 10, leaders want to be respected as a person, rather than only respected for their title. I wanted the opposite: I felt respected as a person, but my position wasn't really respected as a valid leadership position compared with my other leadership team.
Advice
If you have a leadership position at a summer camp: have confidence in your own abilities as a leader. Do the very best you can, and go with your instincts. Listen to others advice, but ultimately, make your own decision.
