LifeStance Health, Formerly Mid-Atlantic Behavioral Health

Intern

January - February 2022 • Newark, DE

What I liked

I learned a lot while I was an intern at LifeStance. You are given the opportunity to help with the logistics such as sorting the codes used by all the providers. The providers are eager to have you observe any sessions they have, whether it is testing, intake, therapy, etc. All the providers I had observed set up meetings with me afterward in case I had any questions, and they were also interested in the career path I want to take and gave me advice.

What I wish was different

I loved my experience at LifeStance, my only regret was interning during the winter semester, as I wish I had been able to spend more time here.

Advice

Working at LifeStance as an intern is fast-paced, but everyone is wonderful and you will learn a lot. Do not be afraid to ask anyone questions, but time goes by fast so take advantage of all the opportunities given to you while at LifeStance. Observe as many different providers as you can along with different appointment types.

What I liked

All of the staff were very friendly and supportive. A lot of helpful information was provided about the field both from a business and clinical perspective, which is immensely helpful for anyone looking to enter the field. Observations were also interesting and give good insight into the field and various careers. You also have a lot of freedom with observations and are free to focus more on the observations you enjoyed the most.

What I wish was different

I wish I had more time to get more observations, however, the time restrictions of the winter session inhibited that.

Advice

Utilize the resources they have. You will be surrounded by clinical and administrative staff with tons of experience who can provide you with large amounts of information surrounding the field.
