Lewis Brisbois

File Clerk

August 2017 - July 2018 • Chicago, IL

What I liked

As an entry level position, the on-boarding process was through and I felt ready to take on my new role. My co-workers were often busy, but willing to help me with tasks or trouble shooting any issues I had. Any conflicts or issues I had, upper management made a point to listen and address everything. Including documentation when needed. This particular office had a business casual dress code, which I appreciated given my position.

What I wish was different

It was hard to take initiative on certain tasks without stepping on a few toes so to speak. Outside of the office, other parties would often disregard my presence or services to them.

Advice

Take time to build strong connections with the attorneys and secretaries you work with directly first. Then build relationships with other file clerks, and legal assistants.
